Web designer help please?

So am a bus driver but always liked to get into web design I've done a wee bit of dream weaver but looking to really get in to it hoping to be able to build some great complex website like eBay and foxy bingo but the down side I can't aford to go to college full time but heard there are some great books I can get that will teach me what be the best book to start with??????
