Should I get my belly button pierced @ 13.?

It hurts a LOT. It only looks slutty when you have tons of baubles and bangles hanging from it like a Christmas tree. Even if you think they look cute they can get snagged on your clothes easily and you can imagine what that feels like. It's cool if your mom consents at 13 but wait until swimming season is over because you can't go swimming for a few months until it's healed. It can get infected really easily if you don't follow the aftercare rules exactly as the piercer tells you to, no exceptions. Worst case scenario I've personally seen with infection is nickel poisoning (blood infection) from using cheap jewelry. If you clean it properly and keep your hands off it you won't have to be worried about infection. If you suspect that your piercing is infected for any reason don't ignore it or go to Yahoo for advice. Contact the piercer immediately. Healing time averages from 6 months to a year. Don't try to change your jewelry until your piercing is healed. Ask your mom to take you to a piercer for a consult and bring a list of questions with you. Good luck!
