Does anyone know who wrote this book?

The book's called Foxy. It's about a boy who finds an abused foxlike black dog and takes it in. A girl his age becomes jealous between the two and at one point, kidnaps Foxy only to put it in a bad disposition since her dog is reckless and wants to fight/kill Foxy.
